Are Lululemon Aligns Worth It?

As a millennial woman who works out and enjoys lounging, I own a lot of leggings. I own leggings to run in, spin in, and relax in. And there are qualities that I always look for when I go to buy new leggings like comfort, price, are they squat proof and what activity am I using these for. The Lululemon Align leggings might be one of the most well-known specific kind of leggings out on the market, as well as being one of Lululemon’s best selling items. They offer multiple varieties of these leggings now and have expanded the Nulu fabric to other items like tank tops.

The Nulu fabric is a Lululemon exclusive fabric that is meant for lounging and not heavy exercise. They come in 3 different inseams and also a shorter cropped inseam as well. The size range has also gotten better (sizes 0-20).

The biggest complaint about the Align leggings is pilling. As you can see below, this pair of aligns is about one year old and I wear them fairly frequently. I cold wash and never dry them, but there is pilling. In doing some research, Lululemon changed their Nulu fabric slightly in the second half of 2020 to make them more durable. I just got a new pair the other week with the new fabric, so I will have to see if that is true.

One pair of standard aligns will run you $98, and if you want the new kind with pockets that will cost $128. So are they worth it? It depends on who you ask and how much you’re willing to spend on a pair of leggings you’re not really supposed to do heavy workouts in, but I think they are. I have tried multiple dupes from Amazon and other brands, and while those leggings are good, they aren’t as good as the aligns. There is something about the fabric and how the mold to your body that can’t be beat. If you are dying for a pair, they do occasionally go on sale in their WMTM section.
