Wardrobe Essentials – Workout Clothes

Starting a new series here on Griebs on the Go about wardrobe essentials. I’m creating lists of pieces that I find to be essential. I am far from the owner of a capsule wardrobe, but I do find the idea intriguing of having a few pieces that go with everything else in your closet and living a more “minimalistic” lifestyle.

I thought it was only appropriate to start the series with workout clothes, considering it is New Years and many people are going to be hitting the gym hard in January. I find that having cute, functional work out clothes make me want to go workout and move my body. It is also important to more intense workouts to have the correct kind of clothes and shoes. You want moisture-wicking materials as well as good socks and gym shoes. If you are unsure of what kind of shoe you should be working out in, I highly recommend going to a running store and they can fit you for the exact right shoe for your feet and activity level.

The list below is capsule wardrobe-esque in that these are the core items that you would need to start working out in 2020.

  • Leggings – neutral color
  • Leggings – fun color/printed
  • Supportive sports bra
  • Shorts
  • T shirt
  • Post-workout long sleeve or sweatshirt
  • Tank top
  • Headband
  • Quality gym shoes
  • Socks – that are made for working out
