What I’ve Read Recently – May/June

It has been a while since an updated reading post, so I combined May and June. I had a bit of a slower reading month in May and then we moved in June so things have been very busy around here. I am getting back into a good rhythm of reading a few chapters before bed, which should get me back on track. And so far, all the books I’ve read recently have been great! I get a fair number of recommendations from my friends and my Mom and they have not disappointed!

Maybe You Should Talk to Someone – This is the book we left off with in my last What I’ve Read post. I really enjoyed this and got through it very quickly. It follows a therapist in her practice and and also when she starts seeing a therapist. A little self help, and some good stories.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F-CK – I read this author’s first book Everything is F-cked a Book About Hope already and enjoyed it, so I picked up his next book. I also enjoyed this one and sped through it. He writes with a no nonsense attitude with plenty of expletives and I thought he had some good points and some laughs as well. Worth picking up.

Between Two Kingdoms – This was a recommendation from my Mom and it was fantastic. I cried several times, but came away from the book feeling better than when I started. This is an autobiography of a young woman diagnosed with cancer and her journey of figuring life out. Bring tissues.

Transcendent Kingdom – This was a recommendation from one of my good friends and I loved this one. I don’t read a ton of novels, but this one was great and reminded me of The Vanishing Half, which I loved as well. This book is about a little bit of everything (race, religion and science) and I can’t recommend it enough.

What I’m Reading Next

The Lost Apothecary – I just started this one and it is the second novel on this list. Another recommendation from my Mom and so far I am enjoying it and will report back.
