Zenni Glasses Review – Are they a scam?

I went to the eye doctor recently and my prescription changed a little bit and the doctor said I could consider getting a new pair of glasses. I had heard of Zenni and asked her if they were any good. The glasses were so cheap I was hesitant to order them. She said that the glasses were actually pretty good as long as you do not have a complicated prescription. Astigmatism would be difficult to accommodate because you are not trying the glasses on in person she said. Luckily for me, I have a simple -1.0 in both eyes so I was in the clear.

My doctor gave me my prescription print out and I was able to upload that into Zenni’s website. You also can use a card, with your computer’s built in camera to estimate what size glasses you need. All of the glasses have the size in S, M and L in the corner when you are browsing the website. I was matched with a size large. You can also use the 3D try on feature, which I found to be pretty helpful. Not the same as trying on in person, but pretty close! I knew I wanted a pair of square, clear glasses and the sizing guide said I needed a size large. I plugged all of that in and ended up with the glasses below. They are part of the Kittles collaboration. There are several other collabs on the website if you want to search that way as well.

I added on 1.50 standard index lenses. I will link to a post here going over different lenses that Zenni offers. I went with a basic one as my prescription isn’t very high. Anti-reflective coating was a free upgrade I added as well. The frames started at $35, and with the lenses added my total came to $52, which for glasses is an absolute steal! I do not have an HSA, but I do believe you can use that to pay for glasses from Zenni. My eye doctor said it is not worth it to go through my eye insurance to buy these glasses as they are so affordable.

The glasses came with a free case and cleaning cloth. They got here very quickly and shipping was $4.95. After wearing these glasses for the last several weeks, I am very pleased with them! The aesthetic is exactly what I wanted. They are comfortable to wear and very lightweight. Overall, I have no complaints! At first, I was worried Zenni would be a scam, but this is not the case! They offer affordable frames and I would highly recommend. They also offers sunglasses, which I will definitely check out at some point too.
