Is the Peloton Bike Worth it? Peloton Bike Review

We bought a Peloton! Previously, we had been using a bike we bought from Amazon and once things started to get bad with COVID again we knew we weren’t going back to a gym. So, we decided to invest in a Peloton bike. I had already been using the Peloton app, which I really like and definitely recommend, so I knew I liked the structure of the app and instructors. If you are thinking of buying the bike or tread, I would suggest downloading the app (which has a free trial period) and test out if you like the format. They have tons of workouts on the app that require little to no equipment.

We didn’t have much room in our apartment, but we managed to fit it somewhere! This is where we were keeping our other bike. I do have enough room to do arms even though it doesn’t look like it.

The tablet is huge on the bike. The seat and handlebars are all fully adjustable.

This is my home screen. Your favorite instructors will appear as well as your streak.

This is my profile. It will show you more data than you will know what to do with. You get awards for getting a PR, streaks and special rides. You can also follow other riders and see their stats.

Is it worth it?

The bike is expensive no doubt. Peloton just came out with their Bike+, so they dropped the price of the original bike to $1895. We went with the original bike and did the financing.

How much is it per month?

If you do the 0% affirm financing, which is what we did, they give you several options for how to pay it off depending on the length of the loan.

Do you need internet for the bike?

Yes, you will need to connect the bike to internet to access the classes. The bike also plugs into a standard outlet.

What was delivery like?

When you buy the bike, they will give a range of dates and times. You then pick a time and they show up and drop the bike off. There is very little assembly and it was a breeze.

What about it do you like?

It’s a great workout. I sweat so much when I ride and it allows me to workout in the comfort of my own home. And all the instructors are all so different and offer so many different types of classes.

I also love the sheer amount of variety and content the app has. I am always blown away just by how much content they are able to pump out. They release more than 5 cycling classes every day and there are so many different kinds.

The data is also awesome. After you take a ride, you can look at your output, cadence, calories burned etc. You can compete with friends on the leaderboard and look how much power you’re putting out.

Is it noisy?

The bike itself is silent. What is much louder is the heavy breathing haha. There are built in speakers, but I connect my airpods to it. Sean and I both are able to connect our two airpods separately when we each ride. We have two separate profiles as well.

What is included when you buy the bike?

So if you choose the cheapest option, you only get the bike. And you do need to buy cycling shoes to clip in to the bike. We already had 3 lb dumbbells and I had cycling shoes, so it made the most sense to buy Sean’s shoes separately.

If you do not want to spend almost $2000, I would recommend buying a bike from Amazon and using the $12 app with the bike. You won’t get all the stats, but you can still get a great workout.
